Le Petit Collégien

Painted in 1879, Le Petit Collégien is an oil-on-canvas portrait by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919), one of the leading figures of French Impressionism. The work depicts a young schoolboy and reflects Renoir’s particular interest in portraiture and the representation of contemporary life.
The painting is signed “Renoir” lower right and measures 61.3 × 46 cm (24⅛ × 18⅛ in.).
